DECORATIVE PATTERNS

 

I’ve always been fascinated by patterns. In particular wallpaper patterns. The colors, the repeats, the history. The house I grew up in had every wall covered in wallpaper. It soaked in and permeated my aesthetics. Images were always swirling in my minds eye. One day a client said “I need something on my front wall to make it stand out, do whatever you want, I just need to see it first.” On the spot I said “let me do a huge wallpaper pattern….like ROSES”. One day I drove past and there was a busload of tourists our front taking their pictures in front of my wall. The wall got their attention, they stopped and shopped. My guess is the wall was paid for that day.
